Marc Jacobs New Era Cap

As fate would have it, I stumbled into my Melrose home [Marc by Marc Jacobs] just in time for a new shipment of New Era Caps.

This amazing collaboration with Marc Jacobs is usually sold out, so I had to take advantage of the fresh stock. The cap is available in four different variations; "Paris" [pictured], "New York", and two colors with "MJ". 100% wool. $35.

Marc by Marc Jacobs SS12

GQ is calling it "pantone-enhanced prep" and I couldn't agree more. Marc Jacob's looks for Marc by Marc Jacobs SS12 show is just the right fresh, spring-worthy twist on a classic! Bright colors is probably what you'd expect from a Spring show, but often not what you get.

Louis Vuitton Raindrop Besace 'Trash' Bag

I've been tearing through about four years of Elle magazine's this week in an attempt to consolidate them into image books. I came across a spread from about a year ago that featured this Louis Vuitton handbag [from the SS10 Collection] and took a trip down memory lane to learn more.

It seems the fashion world wasn't such a big fan of the Vuitton "Raindrop Besace" bag. A lot of opinions on the world wide web found this nearly two-thousand dollar [patent leather lambskin] bag ridiculous. Marc Jacobs and the Vuitton creative team called it a utilitarian rain bag. It features leather handles, pull ties, a vintage Vuitton logo printed on the side, and was available in two colors.

If you ask me the bag was genius. Not only did it get people talking, but what's more "boss" than considering a two-thousand dollar bag trash? I suppose not much would have been able to compete with the "Monogram Chece Bohemian" bag anyways [that was the amazing dip-dye bag always featured with that incredible fox tail].

Jimmy Choo Black Mock Crocodile Wellington Boots

Regretfully, summer is coming to an end. Not parituclarly weather wise here in the Golden State [we all know it will be warm and sunny until November], but, in the world of fashion fall is upon us. The September Issue of Vogue is about to grace our doorsteps and all the stores are already filling their racks with fall goods.

I've been debating over my next rubber boot, or wellington, purchase. It seems it's time to retire my Marc by Marc Jacobs "wellies" [we had a good run]. I'm always lusting over the patent Gucci wellingtons and then lusting over Hunters. Then I found these. From our Lust List "Sugar Daddy", Mr. Porter.

Hunter & Jimmy Choo black vulcanized rubber wellington boots in mock crocodile with side adjusting buckle and front logo. A unique collaboration between the directional footwear brand and the traditional wellington experts, these stylish boots will cut a dash from festivals to country weekends. $425.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Latin Tees

Nothing says LA to me like hanging out at the local Marc Jacobs stores on Melrose, or the "Marc Corner" as it's affectionately known given that there are five seperate stores. You walk around, survey the goods, and listen to stories of "cracked out roommates" from fellow shoppers and employees. I've visited the stores in the West Village of New York but, something about the LA ones just feel like home.

My favorite latin phrases from Marc Jacobs first entered my life on bracelets that I had to wear and distribute to all of my friends. Then they showed up on silver rings. Now, they have made their apparel debut on cotton tees. My favorite of the phrases? It's a toss up between "Internos" [between us] and "Serva Me, Servabote" [save me and I will save you].

Pictured is "Da Tumamore, Ad Defendendum" [given in love, for protection]. Available only at Marc by Marc Jacobs stores. $35.

Louis Vuitton Damier Inifini Collection

Get ready for a new twist on Louis Vuitton's signature "Damier" print. The "Damier [French for "checkerboard"] Infini" collection hits Vuitton stores mid-August. Seen on the Men's AW12 runways, this update is embossed calfskin leather in red, black, and white, and available in key pieces like the Keepall [a luggage staple in my opinion], Porte-Documents Voyage, and Zippy Wallet. I can't decide if I'm in lust with red or white. What do you think?

Andrés Velencoso + La Vanguardia Magazine

The heat was on to find a lustworthy topic for my 100th post on the Lust List and who better than my first Model Lust Andrés Velencoso. Luckily Andrés loves his fans, which led me to find his latest project via Twitter [follow @andresvelencoso].

Andrés appears in the latest issue of La Vanguardia Magazine. I've linked it for your lusting pleasure but, be prepared to think back to all those Spanish lessons in high school if you want to read the article. Or simply lust with your eyes and check out a rough translation of the article below.

Andrés is quoted as "a man of peace, who feels more comfortable with the camera than with the microphone". As you may or may not know, he is the lustable boy toy of Kylie Minogue. The article references that their relationship is not out of personal and professional advantage. That he is a man who respects others, and it would appear, respects love.

Born in Tossa de Mar, he was discovered in fashion at the height of "pre-anorexic sickly" models like those of Heidi Slimane for Dior Homme. Success for someone like Andrés who represented strong but natural muscle and a certain "masculinity both in face and body" seemed hopeless. Luckily for us, our friend Marc Jacobs disagreed and plastered this face of masculinity alongside Jennifer Lopez for Louis Vuitton all over New York. Vuitton led to Chanel, which led to Loewe, and so on.

Andrés is managing success at the age of 33, which is rare for most male models. He keeps intact the fundamentals of his life and remains "friendly and polite, never says a word higher than another, and sits well with everyone". It seems this Model Lust hasn't lost sight of his roots in Barcelona, visiting his sisters and father whenever he has a chance. Sometimes even working in his father's restaurant [if only Andrés was on the menu]. He feels very close to his family, especially after the passing of his mother in 2002 who encouraged him to pursue modeling rather than teach Physical Education. Her name, Lucia, appears on his chest in remembrance.

You can check out this blog devoted totally to his career here, and don't forget to lust with Andrés and the Lust List [@LustListTweets] on Twitter.

Marlon Teixeira for EY! Magazine

Good luck getting your hands on the current summer issue of EY! Magazine. It seems everywhere online is sold out! And the publication is limited to only a thousand copies. But, if you're lucky enough to be in the LA area you can check Marc Jacobs' BookMarc on Melrose where I saw a shiny copy sitting in a display case last week.

The issue features nineteen year old Brazilian male model Marlon Teixeira on the cover and inside in various states of undress. Marlon is featured with other Brazilian male models in a celebration of the hottest country on the planet. Lust with your senses below.

Pure Lust : Garrett Hedlund

What actor lands their first role in a film opposite Brad Pitt? Pure Lust Garrett Hedlund.

Let's start from the beginning. Garrett Hedlund is a down home farm boy [which I'll admit, adds a little to his sexiness] from Minnesota. His family moved to Arizona where he began taking acting classes, but immediately after high school he did what everyone with a dream does, took the next bus to Hollywood.

After only a month, Hedlund landed his role as Brad Pitt's cousin in Troy and his career took off. Friday Night Lights, Georgia Rule, Five Brothers, Tron, and more; including an amazing performance in the recent Country Strong.

Hedlund has minor modeling experience for L.L. Bean and Teen Magazine, but has yet to be the face of any major fashion campaign. A huge fan of punk music, Hedlund has spent time photographing the bands and fashion of the scene. This must have been the inspiration behind his spread in January's W Magazine. From the looks of things, he's ready to take on the fashion world too. Someone get Marc Jacobs on the phone!

"I've been told I'm too good looking for certain roles, but that's okay, it just motivates me to go deeper."

Louis Vuitton Mask

Another favorite accessory from FW12 from our friend Marc at Louis Vuitton. These little masks, shown in white, black, and bronze that adorned the captain's hats on the runway. A welcome little 'edge' to the lace cut outs and tailored blouses.

Lust Icon : Tom Ford

Meet the man once dubbed "the epitome of sexiness", Mr. Tom Ford.

Thomas Carlyle Ford is an American Fashion Designer and Film Director born and raised in the great state of Texas. At only 16 years old, he moved to New York City to study art history at New York University and pursue a career in acting. His acting was limited to television commercials, but still successful as he appeared in twelve national advertising campaigns simultaneously.

However, we all know a man of this genius gets bored easily. So, he moved on from art history and began to study interior architecture. This lust for interiors is probably what kept him inside the legendary Studio 54. He became a fixture of the social scene at a young age, and it was at Studio 54 that Ford is said to have discovered his sexuality. Social contacts always pay off and he eventually spent a year and a half in Paris where he worked as an intern for Chloe.

Ford's experience at Chloe ignited his lust for fashion. He may have had a lack of experience in the industry, but he definitely knew a thing or two about persistence. He set his sights on American designer Cathy Hardwick and called her every day for a month with hopes to fill a position at her mid price sportswear company.

"I had every intention of giving him no hope. I asked him who his favorite European designers were. He said, 'Armani and Chanel.' Months later I asked him why he said that, and he said, 'Because you were wearing something Armani'. Is it any wonder he got the job?" - Cathy Hardwick

In 1988, Ford left Cathy Hardwick and went to Perry Ellis where he worked with Robert McDonalds and Marc Jacobs. After two years, he began looking for the next opportunity and returned to Europe. He is said to have grown tired of working in American fashion at this point in his life. "If I was ever going to become a good designer, I had to leave America. My own culture was inhibiting me. Too much style in America is tacky. It's looked down upon to be too stylish. Europeans, however, appreciate style."

This appreciation of European style put Ford in the perfect position to join Gucci. Gucci was, at the time, a faltering luxury goods company seeking to strengthen its women's ready-to-wear presence as a part of its brand overhaul. He took no prisoners doing just that. Hired in 1990 as the brand's chief women's read-to-wear designer, his role at Gucci rapidly expanded. He was designing menswear within six months, and shoes soon after that. When Richard Lambertson left as design director in 1992, he took over his position, heading the brand's ready-to-wear, fragrances, image, advertising, and store design. In 1994, when he was in charge of designing eleven product lines, he was working eighteen-hour days and still managed to take on a promotion as creative director for Gucci.

In Ford's first year at the helm, he was credited with putting the glamour back into fashion introducing Halston-style velvet hipsters, skinny satin shirts, and car-finish metallic patent boots. Between 1995 and 1996, sales at Gucci increased by 90%. If that wasn't enough work for him, Gucci acquired the house of Yves Saint Laurent and he was named the creative director of that label as well. During his time as creative director for YSL, he won numerous Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards.

On the strength of Ford’s collections, Gucci went public in October 1995 with an IPO of $22 per share, followed by an additional global offering in March 1996 at $48 per share and a third offering in 1999 at $75 per share. I can't tell you what all that means besides success. By 1999, the house, which had been almost bankrupt when Ford joined, was valued at about $4.3 billion. He eventually left in 2004, when the Gucci Group was valued at an impressive $10 billion.

In April 2005, Ford announced he would launch the Tom Ford brand and shortly after opened his first directly owned flaghip store in New York City at 845 Madison Avenue. That lust for opportunities was still alive and he soon found himself adding yet another title to his legendary career, Film Director.

It is definitely in Ford's nature that everything he does is exquisite and revolutionary, so you can expect nothing less from his debut film, A Single Man. He established a film production company, Fade to Black, and was also a producer on the film that led to two nominations at the Independent Spirit Awards in 2009 including Best First Feature and Best First Screenplay.

The awards and nominations for his fashion are almost endless. Tom Ford is not only a Lust Icon for his acheivements in fashion and design, but for his character, his presence, and his charm. The man is 49 years old and has never looked better. He leads a disciplined lifestyle with incredible ambition and a willingness to take risks in whatever he does. A sort of luxurious rebel who calls LA his "American city".

Probably my favorite characteristic of Ford's work, is the sex appeal. Done in a tasteful way that still manages to be shocking, his work is sexually iconic and he is very frank about our desires and the fact that we are drawn to this imagery. As they say, sex sells. God, I hope I don't cry when I meet him.

"Sex is just second nature with me. It’s not like an obsession or anything" - Tom Ford

Tatted Lust : Scott Campbell for Louis Vuitton

Marc Jacobs enlisted Scott Campbell, his personal tattoo artist, to toughen up the SS11 Louis Vuitton show. Models stomped down the runway in air brushed monogram tattoo art. And the ink didn't stop there. You can find elements of Scott Campbell's work on the bags, wovens, and scarves that are hitting Louis Vuitton stores now. Luxury ink? Definite lust.

Marc by Marc Jacobs 'Stinky Rat Slippers'

Spotted these slippers at the Marc by Marc Jacobs store in the West Village while on vacation in NYC. I have to say it's been quite some time since I browsed the special items on the website, but I've made up for lost time. Do I even wear slippers? Not really, but these are tons of fun.

The 'Stinky Rat Slipper' is a collaboration with Stubbs & Wootton for Jacobs by Marc Jacobs. Canvas with leather sole and lining and handmade in Spain. Out of cocoa, purple, black, natural, blue, and olive, I'm not sure which is my favorite.

Available only at Marc Jacobs Collection and Marc by Marc Jacobs stores. I'm not sure when I will drag my ass down to Melrose to get a pair, if they haven't already sold out, but I do have a gift card there that could cover some of the minor $60 price tag.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Fluro Turnlock Bracelet

While I'm on the subject of anything but "beige", check out the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fluro Turnlock bracelet. That's actually neon fabric cord running through the gold chain links and it's pretty dope fresh. It's also available in other colors, including silver with neon yellow. If Nicki Minaj were a bracelet, she'd look something like this, and she looks pretty amazing on my wrist.

Marc by Marc Jacobs 'California' Swim Trunks

Who wears short shorts? Thank you Fred Segal for welcoming these Marc by Marc Jacobs swim trunks into my life. Summer could not come fast enough to lounge poolside or hit the beach in these.
