Marc by Marc Jacobs 'Stinky Rat Slippers'

Spotted these slippers at the Marc by Marc Jacobs store in the West Village while on vacation in NYC. I have to say it's been quite some time since I browsed the special items on the website, but I've made up for lost time. Do I even wear slippers? Not really, but these are tons of fun.

The 'Stinky Rat Slipper' is a collaboration with Stubbs & Wootton for Jacobs by Marc Jacobs. Canvas with leather sole and lining and handmade in Spain. Out of cocoa, purple, black, natural, blue, and olive, I'm not sure which is my favorite.

Available only at Marc Jacobs Collection and Marc by Marc Jacobs stores. I'm not sure when I will drag my ass down to Melrose to get a pair, if they haven't already sold out, but I do have a gift card there that could cover some of the minor $60 price tag.

Balenciaga 0067/S

Found these Balenciaga's at Solstice a few weeks back and immediately fell in lust.

The Spanish-born designer Cristobal Balenciaga was a perfectionist, luxury couturier, cutting lines as an architect and working with clothing blueprints. His creative precision gained him worldwide acclaim from the time the House of Balenciaga was founded in Spain in 1919 and relocated to Paris in 1937. Today, the company is owned by Gucci Group and Nicolas Ghesquière is the illustrious creative director, overseeing the creation of women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, shoes, and accessories. The Balenciaga eyewear collection takes creative direction from both the modern and vintage Balenciaga runway collections.

The 0067/S [pictured in Havana Brown, one of three total colors], features a transparent faux woodgrain frame accented with a flash of gold metal atop the brim, and gradient lenses. I'm definitely in the market for a gradient lens. These bad boys have just the right amount of decadent flash to be rockin' poolside in my favorite city of lust, Las Vegas. $350

Catstudio Israel Pillow

Available at Kitson, this Catstudio original decorative accent pillow celebrates the beauty and wonder of Israel. The pillow is entirely hand embroidered on a light tea-color cotton cover that buttons off for cleaning. Amazingly it can take up to one week to embroider one pillow. It is also unique in nature since each artisan incorporates a certain flair and signature to his/her work.

Catstudio creates pillows to celebrate several cities and states, including Paris and Los Angeles. It's definitely on my bucket list to one day visit Israel. I'm just hoping to run into Jonathan Agassi while I'm there, or any other Isreali that looks like him. $148 at shopkitson.com.

Model Lust : Cody Callahan

Meet Cody Callahan. Born and raised in the suburbs outside of Dallas, Texas, he fled the largest state in the nation to pursue his largest dreams in California. Nope, not modeling as you might suspect given his looks, but acting. Judging from the extreme discipline of his body, he studied to be a personal trainer, it's likely he'll stop at nothing to be the next big thing on film.

I had the pleasure of working with him last week on a shoot, and he seems to be a genuinely nice guy. Wish him all the best pursuing his ambitions.

Film : 'Factory Girl'

Factory Girl, directed by George Hickenlooper, is a film based on the life of 1960s underground film star, socialite, and Andy Warhol's superstar, Edie Sedgwick. AMAZINGLY portrayed by Sienna Miller, the film explores her relationships with Andy Warhol, his infamous Factory, and Folk singer 'Billy', who is actually a portrayal of Bob Dylan.

This story is nothing short of amazing. I can honestly say I'm not a fan of Andy Warhol, and this movie definitely did not turn me into one. Warhol is portrayed as the very demise of the once glamorous Edie, basically setting off a life ending drug addiction and trip into self isolation and ruin. I find the philosophy of Warhol's studio and the people who associated there to be fascinating though.

Lou Reed, Singer/Songwriter of the Velvet Underground the group managed by Warhol from 1965 to 1967, and also one of the Factory people who knew Sedgwick, told the New York Daily News, "I read that script. It's one of the most disgusting, foul things I've seen – by any illiterate retard – in a long time. There's no limit to how low some people will go to write something to make money... They're all a bunch of whores."

Even more controversy came from Bob Dylan who threatened to sue, saying through his lawyers that the script insinuated his responsibility in Sedgwick's drug abuse and death.

Believe what you want after watching the film. Make sure and check out the Bonus Feature 'the Real Edie' on the DVD. It interviews actual 'Factory people', including Betsey Johnson, who detail her life and relationship with Warhol.

Duane Michals

Duane Michals is a mostly self taught American photographer. His work makes innovative use of photo-sequences, often incorporating text to examine emotion and philosophy.

Is it strange to have a fetish for words? Does that even exist? Yes. I'm here to tell you it does. I'm a big fan of "words". I love to write, I love to learn new words, play word puzzles, examine and understand languages, and translate words into different languages. I'm also extremely visual. So, it's no surprise that I would take to Michals work.

I came across the photo above [The Nature of Desire] looking through a photography book at Barnes & Noble one random day and I've been a fan ever since. It reads, "the most beautiful part of a man's body I think it must be there, where the torso sits on and, into the hips, those twin delineating curves, feminine in grace, girdling the trunk, guiding the eyes downwards to their intersection, the point of pleasure."

Burberry Gladiator Sandals

LUST at first sight. Just happened to stumble upon these amazing gladiator sandals while shopping at Barney's New York on Wilshire this weekend. I have to say I was a bit surprised that they were Burberry, but ever since I set eyes on the Givenchy studded men's gladiators a few years ago, I've been dying to strap up and get all roman warrior on the world. $795 and a major competitor against the Gucci ones I fell in love with at the beginning of the season. Haven't found them on any online site, and this is the only image I could find online. Which makes me want them even more!
